New Container / Multipurpose Terminal in Port of Ploce |

Today 30 November 2007, Mr. Tomislav Batur, Executive Director of the Port of Ploce authority and Mr. Željko Žderić, Director of Messrs. Konstruktor-inženjering d.d. Split, signed the contract for the construction of the multipurpose/container terminal in the port of Ploce, phase 1.
In the competition between global firms from People’s Republic of China, Belgium, Austria, Slovenia, and Croatia, Messrs. Konstruktor- inženjering d.d. has been selected as the most favourable evaluated contractor, who submitted the lowest financial proposal and satisfied technical criteria from the bidding documents.
The value of contracted works amounts EUR 34,4 million, and completion date is two years. After the construction of the Phase 1, multipurpose/container terminal will provide storage capacities for 60.000 TEU, and new quay in the length of 280 meters will be constructed.
Except investments in the infrastructure, significant investments of the operator in handling equipment and mechanization will be necessary. This will provide the Port of Ploce more adequate response to continuous growth of container traffic.
