Domestic and foreign ship over 1000 GT  that intends to sail into port in Croatia is obliged to provide proof of assembled insurance or other financial guarantee in order to cover liability for damage due to oil pollution in the amount corresponding limits of liability prescribed in Article 391st of Code for this claim for death or personal injury as well as for the other claim.

Vessels must have a valid certificate which confirms that insurance or other financial guarantees in force in accordance with the provisions of the International Convention on Civil Liability for Oil Pollution Damage, 2001, issued by the competent bodies of the state whose flag the ship was authorized to fly.

Home-made ship in international voyages and foreign ship over 300 GT, which intend to sail into Croatian port, or agree with the offshore facility in the territorial sea and continental shelf of Croatian is required to provide proof of assembled  insurance or other financial guarantee, as the bank guarantee or similar institutions, in order to cover the cost of positioning, marking and removing of wreck, in the amount according Article 823.b of Croatian Maritime Law.
